Boston may be small in physical square footage, but it's home to some of the most unique and incomparable wedding venues in the country. These special locations are sure to make your special day one that everyone remembers.

The Museum Of Science

For a creative, intelligent bride who wants to let loose and give their guests an unforgettable experience there’s no better venue than Boston’s Museum of Science. The inimitable interior isn’t the only extraordinary part of this exceptional venue: it also happens to be the only event setting located directly on the Charles River. Need another reason? Catering is provided by non other than world renown celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck.

The Boston Opera House

This historic and beautiful venue is a perfect fit for glamorous brides with a flair for the dramatic. Thanks to the variety of gorgeous rooms within, the options are endless. Book the two-story lobby and grand staircase for a stunning backdrop featuring marble, brass tracery gold leaf, wall murals, and endless mirrors or literally take your event to center stage. Whatever you choose, there’s no doubt it will be a wholly unforgettable evening.

Your guests will enjoy an incomparable dose of worldly culture as you celebrate your love surrounded by some of the most important and well known works of art ever created. With a variety of rooms and themes to choose from, weddings at the MFA will become their own unique work of art.

Fenway Park

Is there anything more unique to Boston than Fenway Park? Perfect for the fun-loving bride who lives and breathes baseball, Fenway has way more to offer than a simple baseball diamond, like the 9000 square ft right field roof deck. Delight your friends and family, hit a wedding “home run” and enjoy the most memorable day of your life in the heart of Boston. That’s pretty remarkable.

Boston Public Library

For the brainy bride who requires unparalleled  elegance, there's no venue like the Boston Public Library. Arguably one of the most architecturally distinctive buildings in the world, the BPL boasts stunning interiors, flowering courtyards, and  an unmatchable downtown location. With a venue this magnificent, your guests will be hard-pressed to name another wedding that can even come close to topping yours.

Fresh Fall Florals

"Autumn...the year's last, loveliest smile."
― William Cullen Bryant

Temperatures are dropping, the air is drier, days shorter...Fall is in full swing.  With Thanksgiving around the corner, here is a little floral inspiration for fall gatherings & events.

New England is famous for its vibrant and colorful Fall foliage.  Yellows, rust, burnt oranges, and earth tones are in abundance thanks to mother nature and floral arrangements often follow this theme.  For a fresh and romantic twist to the Fall palette, I chose instead to use soft peach tones, a variety of greens and touches of lavender & red.

How I Beat the End of Summer Blues

“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.”
~ John Steinbeck

As the Summer comes to an end in New England I always find myself thinking about the long winter ahead. The days get shorter and shorter and I start to notice that certain autumn smell in the air. Luckily, I know just the thing to combat the end of summer blues: sitting down to dinner outdoors with people that I love.  Knowing that the Summer is coming to an end, lingering just a little bit longer, is the perfect excuse to make dinner a special occasion with beautiful, lush floral arrangements, high-quality tablescapes, and formal place-settings.

White anemones with black centers are a beautiful addition to dinner with a hidden meaning. Anemone means "daughter of the wind" in Greek, named for the wind which so easily makes its petals fall.  In Victorian times, when flowers were used as a form of communication Anemones were symbolic of the departure of a loved one or dying love. In Greek mythology Anemones sprang from the blood of Adonis, the beautiful youth whom Aphrodite fell in love with and died in her arms.

Ah, those end-of-summer blues in New England. Goodbye to the beach and summer vacation. Goodbye to the longest days of the year and the dog-days of summer. But before you say goodbye remember to enjoy one more meal with family and friends under the open sky.  And if you need some help making it special and unique, remember Violet's Event & Floral Design.
